FAQs
About Our Mission
Q: Do you only work with athletes?
A: While we primarily serve student-athletes, our programs are open to all students. We focus on athletes because many Pacific Islander students participate in sports and face unique challenges balancing athletics, academics, and cultural identity. However, any student seeking our support is welcome.

Q: Do you only serve Pacific Islander students?
A: Our cultural expertise is rooted in Pacific Islander traditions and experiences, but we embrace the value of 'ohana (family/community). Any student who resonates with our mission and seeks our support is welcome.

Q: Are you affiliated with the University of Arizona?
A: No. We are an independent nonprofit fiscally sponsored by The Giving Back Fund (a 501(c)(3) organization). While we have strong partnerships with UA and began our work with UA football players, we operate independently and are expanding in 2026 to serve students at multiple universities.

Our Programs
Q: How do you select students for programs?
A: We don't select students—we invite them. We reach out to all Pacific Islander students to share opportunities, and students decide if they want to participate. Participation is based on cultural connection, personal interest, and commitment—never on athletic performance or recruiting purposes.

Q: What kind of support do you provide?
A: We provide culturally grounded mentorship, professional development workshops, advocacy, community connection, and special programs like our Hawaii Service Learning Trip. Our support focuses on helping students navigate academic, athletic, and personal challenges while maintaining their cultural identity.
