About Us
Our Why
I'm a Pacific Islander of Samoan heritage, born and raised in Hawaiʻi. For years, I watched talented PI student-athletes enter college full of promise, only to struggle because they couldn't envision themselves beyond athletics.
In January 2024, something happened that crystallized my purpose. When the University of Arizona's head football coach left unexpectedly, the PI players faced a choice: follow the coach with life-changing money offers or stay. Many chose to stay—united around their PI teammates, turning down significant offers to honor their relationships and community.
These young men showed the world the best of Pacific Islander values, but they still lacked a real support system to help them thrive beyond athletics. That need inspired Le Nu'u Legacy Foundation—and while we began with those football players, we've grown to serve all Pacific Islander students navigating higher education, because every PI student deserves culturally grounded support

What We Do
Le Nu'u Legacy Foundation exists to change that story.
We provide what's been missing: a confidential, culturally aware support system that empowers Pacific Islander students to make informed decisions and build control over their futures. Every student we serve leaves college with a comprehensive development plan for success beyond sports
Our approach is built on three pillars:
-
Advocacy - Guidance through complex decisions like NIL, transfer portal, and academic challenges
-
Professional Development - Workshops in financial literacy, business skills, and career preparation
-
Community Engagement - Quarterly cultural gatherings, global leadership experiences, and service learning that strengthen identity and build networks
WHO WE SERVE:
Pacific Islander students in higher education who balance academic demands, athletic commitments, and cultural identity.
We began with University of Arizona football players, where the need was greatest. We are expanding to serve PI students at other universities starting in 2027.
Our Open Door Policy: All of our current participants are student-athletes, but any Pacific Islander student is welcome—athlete or not. We believe in 'ohana and never turn away students seeking support.
Our Mission
To empower Pacific Islander students to navigate their academic, athletic and personal journeys with confidence, cultural pride, and clarity—through advocacy, professional development, and community engagement.
Our Vision
To build a national model of culturally grounded development where Pacific Islander students thrive with pride, purpose, and belonging—on the field, in the classroom, and throughout life.
